How can universities support their students during the mobility programs?

Nowadays more than ever, it is important to understand at which touchpoints the students need to be followed up during their mobility programs. Furthermore, the University has a crucial role in the process from the beginning of the mobility programs until the end. In fact, there are a lot of things involved when it comes to mobility, and more than ever, universities need to facilitate the most possible for their students. It might exist different strategies that can work out and have a positive effect on the students’ lives.

Let’s explore some ideas on how universities can support their students during the mobility program!

  • Supervising the admission process:

Universities should make sure that their admission requirements are aligned with their partner institution. They also need to provide all required documents in order for the student to have a hassle-free admission process. Furthermore, it is recommended that they follow up with their partner institutions frequently so that nothing is left behind and no problems occur. Lastly, they should offer pre-departure orientations for upcoming students in order to ease their transition into a new environment.

  • Assist with living arrangements

Many times, students are not familiar with the area they will be living in for an extended period of time. For this reason, it is very helpful if the university provides its students with information about safe and affordable housing options near their designated school or workplace. Additionally, many universities have relationships with housing providers who offer discounts to mobility students – so be sure to ask about this as well!

  • Help with finances

One of the biggest challenges for mobility students is financing their studies or internship abroad. Luckily, there are many scholarships and grants available specifically for these types of programs. Universities should make an effort to publicize these opportunities as much as possible, and also provide guidance on how to apply for them. In addition, some schools offer programs where you can earn credit towards your degree by working abroad – so again, be sure to ask about this possibility!

  • Stay in touch

Once students are settled into their new surroundings, it is important for universities to keep in touch with them on a regular basis. This can be done through email, social media, or even video chat platforms like Zoom. Additionally, many universities have “buddy programs” where current students are paired up with international students – this is a great way for everyone involved to adjust to their new surroundings and make new friends!

  • Offer support

Lastly, it is important for universities to offer support throughout the entirety of the mobility program – from start to finish. This means providing guidance on both academic and personal matters, as well as assisting with any problems that may arise along the way. Remember that each student’s experience will be unique, so it is important to tailor your support accordingly.

These are just a few ways in which universities can support their students during the mobility program. Therefore, It is fundamental for universities to do everything they can to help their students succeed so that they can make the most of this unique opportunity.
